In an emergency, time is of the essence and nowhere is this more true than in the sport of mountain biking.
Euphoria Telecom’s sponsorship of an emergency number for use in the Tokai Mountain Bike Park (TokaiMTB) means that in the case of an injury, medical issue or a general safety concern, help can be dispatched quickly.
Mountain biking is a passion for many Euphoria team members, and we know that a lot of our customers love it too.
This passion has translated into Euphoria’s ongoing commitment to maintaining the ever-popular Vasbyt Trail within TokaiMTB as well as hosting the emergency number for the entire park.
TokaiMTB is a privately-funded non-profit organisation mandated by SANParks to assist in safety and trail management in Tokai, Cape Town.
In 2015, fires devastated the park and its trails. Lionel Murray, then owner of Freewheel Cycology, was instrumental in getting the mountain biking community and corporate sponsors like Euphoria involved in rebuilding the trails.
A big part of the focus was on ensuring the area is safe for the entire community. Lionel’s untimely death in 2021 resulted in a renewed commitment within the Tokai community to keep his vision for the park going.
Being on a bike in nature is not without risk and Euphoria wanted to play a part in making TokaiMTB as safe as possible for riders of all skill levels. For the past few years, we’ve sponsored the switchboard and emergency number for TokaiMTB as one of our many CSI initiatives.
While Euphoria has hosted the TokaiMTB emergency number for a long time now, awareness levels about the availability of the service is low. So we decided to create a series of short, memorable and entertaining videos to get this important message across. You can watch these clips here and here.
The creative concepts for these awareness driver videos were developed by Euphoria’s in-house marketing department. We had a blast filming this content and we are delighted that people are enjoying the end result.

With our extensive list of emergency contacts we can determine and activate the best and quickest response required for any situation that may occur in the Table Mountain National Park.”
The number is accessible throughout the park. Riders undertaking Vasbyt, or any of the TokaiMTB trails should keep the number saved on their phones for use in an emergency.
