When it comes to supporting the causes we care about, we mean business.

Euphoria Telecom: empowering communities through CSI

Euphoria believes in living its company values, and we select CSI initiatives that align with these values under the pillars of wellness and community development. Fostering connection is at the core of what we do and has been integral to our long-standing partnerships with TokaiMTB, the Overberg BMX Club and Reach For Recovery.

CSI isn’t just a box ticking exercise for the Euphoria family. Instead webelieve in doing CSI differently. This approach extends beyond donating funds to select NGOs (although that is obviously still important).

Euphoria’s agile in-house marketing team, spearheaded by award-winning Creative Strategist, Lauren Pybus, also provides the charitable organisations with time, skills and conceptual assets. All three of the video projects outlined below were ideated within Euphoria  with the goal of raising awareness and funds for the communities and causes we have selected to support.

‘At Euphoria Telecom, corporate social investment goes beyond investing money’, says Pybus. ‘We believe in equipping valued organisations with the creative tools they need to succeed’.

TokaiMTB

Euphoria has been partnering with TokaiMTB for over five years, contributing to the maintenance of the ever-popular Vasbyt Trail. This sponsorship was later extended into a CSI initiative that supports the safety of riders within the TokaiMTB park. Euphoria sponsors the switchboard and hosting of the TokaiMTB emergency number which can be used throughout the park. Riders who are injured, become sick, or feel unsafe can call 0870 590 000 and emergency assistance will be dispatched to them immediately.

“Many of Euphoria team members and customers are mountain bike enthusiasts. That is how our partnership with TokaiMTB originally came about”‘, says Pybus. The safety of riders is key and the emergency number allows visitors to use the trails safely, knowing that help is just a phone call away. And in order to promote the availability of a dedicated TokaiMTB emergency number in an innovative way we came up with a fun and engaging series of awareness videos centered around the creation of a 3D printed remote control business phone. We then had an absolute blast sending our car phone down the Vasbyt Trail. It was such great fun!’

Euphoria’s CSI commitments are carefully selected to encourage deeper social connections and build stronger communities. “Our long-standing partnerships are born out of a desire to create connections and contribute to the growth of community-centric projects across South Africa,” Pybus concludes.

Overberg BMX Club

“Seeing the work that Overberg BMX Club does in empowering young people from impoverished communities, and imparting valuable lessons about  sportsmanship and perseverance made us want to get involved with OBC immediately,” Pybus says.

The club provides a safe space where BMXers from across Hermanus can take part in a fun, healthy activity together – no matter their age or background. The club also makes the sport accessible to youngsters who might not otherwise be able to take part. By loaning  bikes and providing free coaching clinics to under-resourced riders, OBC gives rising BMX stars a chance to shine.

Euphoria Telecom has proudly provided a shipping container to the club for the storage of bikes and maintenance equipment. In the future, this container will form part of a planned clubhouse, where club members and guests can kick back and have some fun together, further strengthening the Overberg BMX’s community focus.

Reach for Recovery

Euphoria Telecom first partnered with Reach For Recovery in 2022  The Remember To Think Pink campaign was launched in 2023 and is now in its second year. This dynamic initiative was created by Euphoria Telecom’s marketing in-house marketing team to help SA’s oldest breast cancer organisation to raise awareness about the importance of getting regular breast cancer screenings.

This vibrant, national campaign places bright pink sticky notes in places where women gather to remind them to “make the smart call” and book their annual breast exam. Early detection for breast cancer is life saving. So working with Reach for Recovery to encourage more women to get checked is something we are immensely proud of,” says Pybus.
