Euphoria Telecom was proud to join one of South Africa’s most beloved charity golf events, the Gift of Sight Invitational 2025, hosted at the stunning De Zalze Golf Club on May 15th. With a full field of players, high-profile sponsors, and even Springbok legends in attendance, the day was more than just a good time—it was a shot at real change.
The Gift of Sight Trust is on a mission to eliminate avoidable blindness in South Africa by reducing the country’s cataract surgery backlog. Founded in 2015 by ophthalmologist Dr. Johann Krüger, the trust works to restore vision – and dignity – to thousands who would otherwise face years of visual impairment due to the inaccessibility of affordable eye care. It’s a cause we felt compelled to support in a way that reflected both the seriousness of the mission and the spirit of the day.
So when Euphoria Telecom signed on to sponsor Hole 3, we didn’t just plant a flag. Our marketing team, led by Marketing Manager and Creative Director Lauren Pybus, created a custom activation: “Pin the Hole” – a tailored twist on “pin the tail on the donkey,” reimagined for golf and perfectly themed for the Gift of Sight. Golfers, blindfolded with fabric featuring the Trust’s signature eye graphic, had to spin and try to “pin the hole” on a large aerial overview of the par 3 on hole 3.
The golfers’ reward? Depending on where their Pin the Hole flag was placed, participants stood a chance to win an Nespresso coffee machine, an Amazon Kindle or a Dunlop Padel racket. The activation drew a constant stream of attention and laughs, with four-balls lining up to take their shot – many more than once.
“At Euphoria we love to match the right concept with the right occasion”, says Lauren Pybus. “When you get that combination right everybody wins. And that was definitely the case with our Pin the Hole activation. It struck a chord with players and organisers alike’.
Jeandré Kruger, the event’s organiser, stopped by and gave the activation an enthusiastic thumbs-up and both he and Dr. Krüger are keen to see Euphoria more involved next year, an opportunity that we welcome.
Euphoria’s team on the ground was spearheaded by Aidan Smit, Reshma Lutchman, Crystal Adonis and Nadia Franke. They brought the energy, while the players brought the heart. And Euphoria Telecom’s Managing Director Warren Hawkins and his 4-ball made sure to give Pin the Hole a good twirl while soaking up the incredible De Zalze views from Euphoria’s gazebo.
In the end, it was a day of sunshine, good swings, and even better causes. We had a blast, and we’re thrilled to have been part of raising funds to help restore sight across South Africa.
